Leno REI is the founder of THEMAN, a music platform that encourages Indonesian musicians, producers, and DJs to explore sounds that are heavily influenced by black music on a deeper level. Since returning from Seattle in 2006, he has been an active participant in Jakarta’s music scene and has established a musical staple for jazz and soul through his infamous GOODNWS and other platforms.
Aside from being a platform creator, Leno REI is also a DJ who has opened for well-known DJs such as Mayer Hawthorne, Rich Medina, Simbad, Natasha Diggs, Teeko, and Shingo Takahashi. He has also released singles from both local and international labels. Regardless of what he’s doing, Detroit, Chicago, New York, and Bristol sounds run deep in his veins, which is evident in his music.

THEMAN presents KE(U)TUKAN, their latest project. “Ke(u)tukan” means “knock”, while “kutukan” means “curse”. Yes! They are ready to curse and knock out bad vibes with their signature addictive rhythms.
Who is KE(U)TUKAN? This trio consists of Leno REI, Elektrodashline, and the Audio Jazz Ensemble, all part of THEMAN’s DJ lineup. Using their trusted DENON DJ equipment, they are exploring the possibilities of live DJing with rhythm manipulation, remixing on the go, incorporating live percussion to create an explosive performance.

Audio Jazz Ensemble is a highly talented music producer from Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia. He has been creating innovative music for over a decade, which includes house, contemporary beat, and heavily sampled swing beat pendulum.
Abe Imanu is a well-known DJ in Jakarta who is known for his soulful music. His sets are heavily influenced by the sounds of New York and Chicago, making him a favorite amongst house dancers.
